Ant and Dec and the National Television Awards

The National Television Awards were last night and to be honest it’s my favourite UK television awards show since every single category is voted for by the public.

Ant and Dec went and won the Best Entertainment Presenter for the thirteenth year running beating Keith Lemon, Alan Carr, Dermot O’Leary and Graham Norton.

Of course with award shows not everyone can be happy so after perusing Twitter during the NTA’s I saw how many people were annoyed that Ant and Dec had won going on to say “so-and-so was robbed” etc. etc. Yeah, I’m sure the other nominee’s would’ve liked to win (Graham Norton is my second favourite after Ant & Dec) but these awards are voted for by the public so blame the public for decisions you don’t like.

I’m a firm believer that you don’t have any right to moan if an awards night (or even an election) doesn’t go the way you want to if you didn’t spend the time voting – if you did vote, then by all means moan away but if you didn’t, you’ve got no one to blame but yourself.

Anyway, mini-moan over.

I’m just so happy for Ant & Dec especially how they then went on to receive the Landmark Award. They’ve been on our TV screens for twenty-five years. I’m twenty two – I’ve grown up watching the pair of them from SM:TV Live with Chums and Wonky Donkey to presenting Pop Idol, I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! and Britain’s Got Talent. They just make me smile and laugh and I will always watch whatever show they work on because they’re both fantastic. They are so deserving of all the awards the receive and I’m pretty sure they’re the only ones who can get away with taking a selfie on stage at a huge awards show.
