The Friday 56 is a weekly meme hosted by Freda’s Voice. The aim is to share a few sentences of a book (whether it’s the one your’re currently reading or not) so other people might be enticed to pick it up.
Here’s the rules:
– Turn to page 56 or 56% in your eReader
– Find any sentence, (or few, just don’t spoil it)
– Post it.
– Add the url of your post to the Linky on Freda’s most recent post.
“She doesn’t have kids, then?” he asks, and I don’t know if I’m imagining it, but the second the subject of children comes up, I can hear an edge in his voice and I can feel the argument coming and I just don’t want it, can’t deal with it, so I get to my feet and tell him to bring the wine glasses, because we’re going to the bedroom.
That was from page 56 of the hardback of The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins
This book is really something. I didn’t figure out the mystery until the end, either.
Same! I really liked it even though I didn’t particularly like any of the characters.
I’ve heard a lot of great things about this one!
I think it definitely deserves all the praise it’s been getting 🙂
I’ve heard some things about this one. I hope you are enjoying it. I have a romance this week. Happy reading!
I finished reading it the other day and I really enjoyed it. You never quite knew who to believe or what was really real and I loved that.
I loved this book! 🙂
Check out my Friday 56 (With Book Beginnings).
Me too! I finished it the other day and was really impressed with it.
I have seen The Girl on the Train but never picked it up to see what it was about. The writing caught my attention.
Here is my Friday 56:
I think the writing is great, it’s got all these long sentences that are like a strain of consciousness and it really pulls you in. I’d definitely recommend it.
This is one I want to read. Happy weekend!
I’d definitely recommend it, especially as I didn’t figure everything until just before the main character.
Hope you’re having a good weekend!
