FRIDAY 56: Evil Star by Anthony Horowitz

The Friday 56 is a weekly meme hosted by Freda’s Voice. The aim is to share a few sentences of a book (whether it’s the one you’re currently reading or not) so other people might be enticed to pick it up.

Here’s the rules:

– Turn to page 56 or 56% in your eReader
– Find any sentence, (or few, just don’t spoil it)
– Post it.
– Add the url of your post to the Linky on Freda’s most recent post.

“He stopped. He could smell burning.
He didn’t need to look around. He knew there was nothing on fire. What he could smell as burnt toast…and if he closed his eyes he would see a sudden flare of yellow, a teapot shaped like a teddy bear, his mother’s dress on the morning she was killed…
And he knew that it meant something was about to happen.”

    1. He was definitely one of my favourite authors from my childhood and through my teenage years – I’d read anything he wrote. I still have a soft spot for him and I’m enjoying rereading to this series for the ReReadathon 🙂

  1. Horowitz is one my favourite authors, I’ve read and reviewed the Alex Rider series and his House of Silk (Sherlock Holmes) and Moriarty books. He is such a brilliant writer, I might have to give this one a look too. I’ve just finished reading his new Bond book Trigger Mortis and the review will be up shortly.
    Great idea of a Friday 56! 🙂

    1. Anthony Horowitz’s books were a huge part of my teenage years and was definitely one of my favourtie authors. I’m not sure if I ever finished the Alex Rider series but I did love it and I read the Diamond Brothers books too. I read The Power of Five series when I was younger but am now revisiting it for the ReReadathon and because I never actually finished the series due to there being a 4 year wait for the final book that I had obviously forgotten everything. I’m definitely enjoyig going back to Horowitz’s writing 🙂
