As it’s the New Year I thought it would be time to have a look at my film collection and actually take note of all the films I’ve yet to watch. I do have a problem with buying films and boxsets and then it takes me ages to actually sit down and appreciate them. So that’s 77 unwatched films sitting on my shelves. If you know the films you might see some themes here, that’s because I love boxsets. I’ve got a Clint Eastwood one (hence all the films directed by and starring him), a couple of 80’s boxsets, a gangsters one and a Coen Brothers boxset. Oh and there’s a fair few films I have just because Oscar Isaac is in them.

If I could get my unwatched films down to about 30 in 2016 I’d be pretty happy, and that includes any new films I’ll no doubt end up buying over the year. Also these year I want to watch more films written and/or directed by women, so if you generally have any recommendations that fit in those categories that’d be great!

So what should I watch first? And which (if any) of these films are “Oh my God I can’t believe you haven’t seen that?!” kind of films? Any recommendations would be much appreciated as sometimes I just don’t know where to start.

  1. I’m kind of shocked you haven’t seen Gone with the Wind. Comes on TV every Christmas and I have to watch it. Just love Scarlett and Rhett although it is pretty long. A League of their Own or Serenity are probably an easier place to start.

I’d put Solaris near the bottom of the list. Hated that film although to be fair I only watched 45 mins before I gave up.

    1. Haha! Yeah it’s one classic I just haven’t got around to. I actually saw that it was on TV over Christmas but I missed it. I should probably watch Firefly before Serenity I’m guessing? I do have that series on Blu-Ray but again, I haven’t got around to watching it.
      Thanks for the recs 🙂
