TOP TEN TUESDAY: Top Ten Books on my Autumn TBR

Top Ten Tuesday is a feature run by BrokeAndBookish each week. This week the topic is, as the title suggests, the ten books we want to read this Autumn. For me this is not just going to be my Autumn TBR, but it’s more like my Books-I-Want-To-Read-Before-The-End-Of-2017-TBR as these are the books I’ve been meaning to get to for ages and it’s about time I just read them.

Flame in the Mist by Renée Ahdieh
I got this in a subscription box earlier this year and there was so much hype around it before it came out. I like that it’s got a Mulan-esque angle to it and the lead sounds great and I like stuff with assassins so this sounds like a book for me.

Uprooted by Naomi Novik
I think I got this for either my birthday or Christmas last year so it’s definitely about time I read it. I’ve heard nothing but great things and the cover’s gorgeous so I really don’t know what’s taken me so long.

When Dimple Met Rishi by Sandhya Menon
This is another book that there’s been so much hype over so when I saw it was cheap on kindle I bought it but I just haven’t read it yet. Admitedlly I have phases of reading my kindle and it’s about time I had another kindle reading binge.

Nasty Women by various
This is an essay collection I funded on Kickstarter earlier this year so I got my own copy in the post. I do like non-fiction and I’m looking forward to reading different women’s experiences.

The Diabolic by S.J. Kincaid
This is another book I got in a subscription box. I actually started this book in January, I got half way through and I did like it but then I just stopped reading for some reason. I can still remember a lot of what happened so I could probably continue from where I left off and actually finish the it this time.

Runaways: The Complete Collection Volume 3 and 4 by Brian K. Vaughn and many others
I ended up almost panic buying Vol. 4 in this series because I realised because of the Runaways TV show they seem to be doing the volumes all different and I didn’t want to miss the last part of the series in the version I’ve got it. Now I just need to read them.

Fun Home by Alison Bechdel
These last few months of 2017, my main goal is to shorten my TBR and one of the easiest ways to do that is read my unread comics and graphic novels. Fun Home is a graphic novel memoir and sounds both funny and tragic.

Saga Volume Six and Seven by Brian K. Vaughn and Fiona Staples.
I love this series! Saga is one of the best comic series out right now, I love the characters, the art, the story, but I’m so behind. Definitely want to be all caught up on this series by the end of the year because I think Volume Eight comes out in January.

So that’s my Autumn/end of the year TBR, are there any I should definitely read sooner rather than later? What books do you want to read over the next few months?

  1. Great list! I’ve seen When Dimple Met Rishi on so many lists this week – clearly it’s a sign I need to read it soon – and Nasty Women sounds like a really good read. I read Uprooted a couple of years ago and, sadly, didn’y enjoy it as much as I hoped I would – it’s definitely an ideal autumnal read, though!

  2. I really enjoyed Flame in the Mist and it is so easy to get lost in…I was up until 3am reading it as I was so into the story 🙂

    1. I really need to finish it! So much is still fresh in my mind, which must be a positive as I haven’t picked it up since the start of the year, so hopefully I’ll pick it up and finish it soon. 🙂

  3. I also have been meaning to read Uprooted for awhile. I bought the book a few months ago when it went on sale and it’s just been sitting on my kindle.

I hope you enjoy Saga vols. 6 & 7. I just finished vol. 7 on Sunday. Both were great!

  4. You have so many good books on your tbr! When Dimple Met Rishi is one of my favorite books of the year and is such a fun, feel-good book. And Saga. OMG. Even my least favorite volume is still amazing!

  5. Oooh Saga, that is definitely something I will be reading this fall too! I have 4-7 and I am so excited to get to them all! And The Diabolic, I need to read that too, along with When Dimple Met Rishi! And that Uprooted cover is one of my favorite covers of all time! Hope you enjoy these!

  6. I really enjoyed When Dimple Met Rishi so I hope you end up enjoying it as much as I did. 🙂 And Flame in the Mist is on my list as well. Thanks for sharing and, as always, fabulous choices! ❤
