This week’s question is off the topic of books and is instead: What is your favourite scary movie?
I am not a scary movie fan. I’m a bit of a scaredy-cat and generally do not watch horror films. I think it’s mostly because I don’t like blood and gore (I’m actually OK with blood in real life but I really do not like any sort of body horror in media) and I don’t enjoy being scared.
BUT! My favourite scary film, out of the few I’ve seen, has to be The Descent (2005). It’s about a group of women who go on a caving expedition, but they soon discover they are trapped in the caves with something deadly. I watched it in college as a part of my AS Film Studies class and it was the one and only time I’ve watched it but it has stuck with me for almost eight years! I remember watching it in the class and when it finished and we all went to break, it was bright sunshine outside but my heart couldn’t stop pounding.
The Descent is an incredibly tense, scary and at times gory film. I do think it’s a great film and something I recommend to just about anyone but I definitely don’t need to watch it more than once.
Oooh! I’ve never heard of this one. I’ll have to check it out!
I’m pleased I’ve watched it but it’s a film I never want to see again!
This one is super scary. Claustrophobic!
Super claustrophobic! I’m fine with small spaces and things like that in real life but when characters are trapped I find it really scary.
I haven’t seen or heard of this one. I’m not a scary movie fan. This one would definitely creep me out.
Yeah I think it’s an underrated British horror gem but I definitely wouldn’t watch it again – it freaked me out too much!
I love that film. Definitely one of my faves but it is pretty brutal.
I definitely watched it through my fingers at some points!
I haven’t watched the movie. Sounds scary though. Have a great week!
So scary! Im glad I watched it with a room full of people though that kinda made it worse sometimes because someone next to me would scream/jump and it’s make me react even more! 😀
Thank you and same to you!
I’m such a baby when it comes to being scared, even in movies. So no, I don’t have favorite horror movies. I can watch some easy movies, like Halloweentown or Hocus Pocus. I can even get into psychological thrillers, like Gone Girl and Prisoners, if it’s with a group of people. But if I try to watch anything above that level, I start having nightmares.

I don’t enjoy being scared either. I love Hocus Pocus though! Films like that, family-friendly Halloween-themed films is the sort of thing I like to watch at this time of year. Don’t wanna watch any horror film at all if I can help it 😛
